Cellulite

Cellulite

Cellulite is unfortunately a very stubborn condition to treat. It is a very common condition that is not harmful in any way. It causes dimpled skin mainly on the thighs, hips, buttocks and abdomen.

The divots/”cottage cheese appearance” in the skin occurs due to fibrous connective cords that form under the skin that tether the skin to the underlying muscle. It is unknown why certain people get cellulite. There are some factors that we can say add to cellulite these include hormonal factors, genetics (that determine skin structure, texture and body type). It is true. Weight and muscle tone can add to why someone may develop cellulite; however, very fit people can also get this. Cellulite is more common in women than men – this is likely due to the way women’s fat is distributed (chiefly in the hips, thighs and buttocks).

There are many devices and creams that offer promises on the market; unfortunately, these are not proven to work. At Sorora we do offer help with cellulite to minimize its appearance with radiofrequency microneedling with our Morpheus 8™ machine. It does take time and will not disappear with one treatment. Microneedling helps with forming collagen which can help fill the “divots” in the skin. This will take a number of treatments and maintenance will be required.
