Fillers

Fillers

As we age, our skin loses collagen, which is responsible for holding our skin together and providing structure. This can cause certain areas of our face to appear sunken in or droopy, especially if there was less volume there, to begin with, due to genetics. To combat this, we use fillers made of hyaluronic acid. This natural substance is already present in our body and is well-tolerated, making it a safe choice for restoring volume to the skin. In addition to plumping up areas that have lost volume, hyaluronic acid can also draw fluid into the skin and alleviate dryness. By using fillers, we can achieve a more youthful and refreshed appearance.

BEFORE the treatment

  • Try to avoid things that will thin your blood for a couple of days (these lead to increased bruising)

    • Alcohol
    • Anti-inflammatory medications (Tylenol is okay for pain but avoid ibuprofen, Aleve, Advil, Midol etc. (these are non-steroidal anti-inflammatories) and will thin your blood and lead to more bruising)
    • Garlic and garlic-based natural supplements
  • Please keep us posted on any active cold sores or recent illnesses prior to injection. We will not inject filler in pregnant or breastfeeding patients.

  • We will ensure that you know what we are doing every step of the way.

  • Areas in, which Dr. Basanti injects filler include; temples, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, tear troughs (in select patients – Dr. Basanti prefers alternate modalities for tear troughs and notes better long-term results with fewer complications), cheeks, jawline and chin and let’s not forget the lips!

DURING the treatment

  • Sit back and relax and remember to tell us if there is any way we can make the procedure more comfortable (vibration, ice… and mini breaks if needed).

AFTER the treatment

  • After receiving a filler treatment, it’s important to be aware that some of the initial swelling will decrease over time. This means that you may notice that the result is not as full as it was immediately after treatment. However, most people are happy with this as the initial result can be more drastic than they had anticipated. If you experience severe pain or notice purple or white discolouration, please let us know right away. Generally, the results of the filler should last between 9-18 months, though this can vary depending on the individual and the specific type of filler used. To ensure the best possible outcome please pay close attention to your post-care instructions. By doing so, you can help to ensure that your results are long-lasting and beautiful.
